Executive Director for Christine’s Home

Rita serves as the Associate Director for Hands On Missions and is the Executive Director for Christine’s Home. She has gone on several international mission trips with Hands On Missions and works diligently in serving the children at Christine’s Home seven days a week. God placed His vision of Christine’s Home in Rita’s heart when she was 21 years old. Over the years, her parents have taken in and cared for over 300 children in their home. Rita witnessed first hand the abuse many of those children experienced, where most of these children came from homes where they fell victim to the poor choices of their parents, usually due to alcohol and drug abuse. Rita’s sister, Christine, loved the children, helped with homework, and became their best friend. Our group home is named in honor and memory of Christine Ross, who passed away with Multiple Sclerosis in 1998. In May of 2005, Rita with the help of numerous, loving supporters, volunteers, and contributors, opened Christine’s Home to be a group home for residential care to foster children, who have been neglected, abused, and abandoned. She is a member of New Bethel Baptist Church where she has served as WMU Director, VBS Director for several years, and has taught several Sunday school classes. Rita and her husband, Reggie, have two sons, Jonathan and Michael, daughter-in-law, Nicole, and a two-year old grandson, Judd.

House-parents for Christine’s Home (pictures not provided to protect the privacy of the children)

Jeanette’s childhood dream to help children who have been neglected, abused, or abandoned came true when she and her husband, David, answered the call to be house parents for Christine’s Home the beginning of 2008.
They were both working at Hallelujah Acres at the time when the Lord guided them into this new ministry. Their responsibilities at the Home are a blend of preparing meals, dispensing medications when necessary, driving the children to doctor appointments, the YMCA, shopping excursions, grocery shopping, cleaning, gardening, overseeing homework, mentoring, and most importantly, providing a safe and loving home environment for the children. David and Jeanette live in Griffin, Georgia and commute to Shelby; a relaxing and scenic 3½ hour car ride. They attend Lake Cindy Baptist Church where they enjoy their Sunday school class, volunteer work cleaning the church, and talking to their church friends about health related issues.
